About Us

Office of Retirement and Disability Policy

The Office of Retirement and Disability Policy (ORDP) is the principal advisor to the Commissioner of Social Security on major policy issues and comprises five offices, as outlined in our organization chart.

Research & Policy Analysis

The research and policy analysis on this website come from a collaborative effort primarily between two ORDP offices—the Office of Research, Demonstration, and Employment Support; and the Office of Research, Evaluation, and Statistics. We work together to conduct research and policy analysis, and disseminate the results in publications available on this site.

We also fund several extramural projects and grants, including the Retirement and Disability Research Consortium, and support development of the Modeling Income in the Near Term (MINT) microsimulation model, used for some of our research.

Statistics

The Office of Research, Evaluation, and Statistics is the agency's source for statistics on the OASDI and SSI programs and the earnings of the working and beneficiary populations. We provide all the statistics and data on this website except for National Beneficiary Survey: Disability Statistics and DI & SSI Program Participants: Characteristics & Employment, which are provided by the Office of Research, Demonstration, and Employment Support.

Below are our annual reports to the Office of Management and Budget required under the Confidential Information Protection and Statistical Efficiency Act (CIPSEA).
